Bell Nunnally has elected three attorneys as partner, effective January 1 – Jonathan A. Aldaco, Troy “T.J.” Hales and Sydnie A. Shimkus.

Aldaco joined Bell Nunnally in 2023. A member of the firm’s Litigation practice, he works closely with real estate developers, contractors, executives and businesses, ranging from closely held companies to Fortune 500s, to handle real estate disputes. He is also experienced in handling eminent domain matters, having represented landowners in various types of takings, including commercial, industrial and rural properties.
Honored by his peers, Aldaco has been named to The Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list since 2021 and has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” list, featured in Texas Lawyer,since 2022. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law (J.D., 2015) and Texas A&M University (B.S., 2012).
Hales joined Bell Nunnally in 2019. He is a former federal clerk who has substantial experience advocating for clients in and out of court. He has represented corporate clients in a wide array of commercial and real estate matters. These matters often involve contractual, regulatory and construction issues, including landlord-tenant disputes, purchase and sale agreements, and boundary and title issues.

He is a graduate of SMU’s Dedman School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2016) and Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business (B.B.A., with distinction, 2013).
Shimkus joined Bell Nunnally in 2019. She is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Labor and Employment practices. Shimkus’ practice is a mix of commercial litigation and labor and employment counseling on behalf of clients in a wide range of industries, including home health care, home security, manufacturing and telecommunications. She is experienced with both arbitration proceedings and jury trials in state and federal courts, as well as claims before various administrative bodies.
