Matthew’s background in the corporate world – from advertising and data analytics to business finance – helps him understand clients’ challenges from multiple perspectives, allowing him to more fully and accurately address their legal needs with a business mindset.
Drawn to the profession having watched his grandfather’s legal career, Matthew strives to follow in his footsteps by bringing strong values and a diligent work ethic to his practice. He approaches matters with an emphasis on listening and learning to build lasting professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
Matthew joins Bell Nunnally’s transactional practice after attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. While there, he was a contributing editor and staff member for the North Carolina Law Review and dedicated more than 46 hours to work with the Environmental Justice/North Carolina Pro Bono Center.
During law school, Matthew participated in summer associate programs through private practice and in-house counsel opportunities where he was able to focus on corporate and securities compliance, including issues related to executive compensation and corporate governance. He enjoys sorting out the legal complexities of the always-changing business environment.
An active advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, while at Chapel Hill, Matthew was a member of the Lambda Law organization. As a research assistant, he aided a law school professor in drafting memoranda focused on constitutional and employment litigation regarding situations arising within the LGBTQ+ community. He also co-founded and served as a chair of his undergraduate business fraternity’s Diversity & Inclusion committee.
